Painting in portrait orientation. An old human figure on the left of the frame, with a white cloak wrapped around him is making his way through a wooded area. His surroundings are painted in blue, grey and white. There is a storm brewing, if we are to guess from the flying cloak and hazy winds.

Ramesh Charan Basu Majumdar

Old Man in a Cloak

Collection: Malini Bhattacharya

This untitled painting bears resemblance to a series of works by Abanindranath Tagore from around 1916 that depict scenes from Rabindranath Tagore’s play Phalguni. It is quite possible that Ramesh Charan Basu Majumdar also drew inspiration from the play.
