A rectangular piece of cardboard in landscape orientation, with three pieces of hand-torn paper stuck to it. Nandalal pastes them and draws lines on them to suggest it is a family of birds. The mother bird has an orange beak. At the bottom he writes To M. Patel.

Nandalal Bose

Untitled (Bird family)

27 January 1954

Collection: DAG Museums

Art was a practice of the everyday for Nandalal – both in terms of subject matter and material. This beautiful family of birds came to life on the back of a warranty card for a photographic light-metre.
